Downtown Advantages
Why Downtown?
School of Adult and Continuing Education students include both those who already work downtown, as well as people who come into town for evening classes. They enjoy being in class with faculty and students who bring incredible experiences and insights from the region’s top corporations.
Parking, especially in the evenings, is plentiful and affordable. Pittsburgh was the first major city to offer 2 hours of wireless Internet for free daily.
A Changing Downtown
In recent years, Downtown Pittsburgh began to evolve from being one of America’s great business centers (home to 7 of the Fortune 500 companies) into becoming a real neighborhood.
New condo, loft and student housing has brought an influx of day and night residents. Grocery stores, restaurants and other amenities have followed. Residents, workers and students all enjoy downtown’s compact size and safety: among the top 25 metropolitan areas in the United States, Pittsburgh has the lowest crime rate.
Already a great place for sports, entertainment and culture, downtown Pittsburgh is now the center of outdoor recreation as well along the shores of the three rivers. Biking, running and kayaking bring thousands of people downtown everyday.
